Job Description

KARL STORZ - United States is currently looking for a Director, Total Rewards. This is a strategic leader role that is responsible for shaping and overseeing the organization's total rewards strategy. The Director, Total Rewards ensures that employee rewards align with business results and support the company's objectives and collaborates with cross-functional teams to attract, retain, and motivate top talent through effective compensation and benefits programs.

This is a hyrid role with a minimum of 2 days onsiteand can be based at our Auburn, MA location or Charlton, MA location.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development:
    • Develop a comprehensive total rewards strategy for KARL STORZ-US within the global HR strategy and the global reward strategy that aligns with the organization's goals. Adjust such philosophy as needed to keep the organization competitive in the talent marketplace over time.
    • Create programs that attract, reward, and retain employees using a performance and market oriented total rewards offering that adheres to global strategies.

  • Compensation:
    • Oversee compensation programs and related processes, including base salary, bonuses, and incentives.
    • Annually manage, communicate, and audit the merit increase program, promotions, and market adjustments prior to and during the budget process.
    • Work in concert with the Global head of Compensation and Benefits, ensuring that the US stays in alignment with the talent markets across the US and aligns with the Global compensation strategy.
    • Work with Sales Compensation team and Sales Compensation committee as needed to ensure the overall program is legally compliant and market competitive.
    • Ensure with HRBP team that annual bonus goals and goal achievements are properly entered into the HRIS system in a timely manner.
    • Monitor with HRBP that the performance appraisal input is properly in the HRIS system in a timely manner as input for the merit increase program and promotions.
    • Oversees the analysis of jobs, salaries, and incentives for internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of pay practices (exempt/non-exempt)
    • Directs and performs the job evaluation in line with the Karl Storz career framework and the global job evaluation process.
    • Oversees the consistency of job descriptions across the organization and provides feedback to process to both Business owners and HRBP's.

  • Benefits:
    • Manage benefits programs (healthcare, retirement, wellness, etc.).
    • Participate as a member of the Health & Welfare and 401K fiduciary committees.
    • Ensure that employees understand the value of benefits offered.
    • Engage with benefit consultant to create 3-year benefit strategies
    • Manage the annual benefits enrollment process and communications.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for all such programs.

  • Performance Metrics and Analytics:
    • Use or establish performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of total rewards programs.
    • Analyze data to make informed decisions and adjust strategies as needed.

  • Communication and Education:
    • Communicate total rewards programs to US employees, ensuring transparency and understanding within the global HR communication framework.
    • Provide guidance to HR teams and business leaders on best practices related to rewards.

  • Vendor Management:
    • Partner with external vendors (benefits providers, compensation consultants, etc.) as needed (if not already covered by Global Compensation & Benefits) to keep US offerings up to date, competitive, and easy to manage.
    • Evaluate vendor performance, conduct RFP's as needed in concert with Purchasing and support purchasing and legal in the negotiation of contracts.

  • Employee Engagement:
    • Align with the global employee engagement initiative and leverage total rewards to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
    • Monitor trends and adjust programs accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; MBA or Master's degree preferred
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or similar certification is a plus.
  • 10 or more years of experience in total rewards management, including compensation and benefit programs. Experience in the Medical Device industry is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in managerial / leadership roles.
  • Experience with job evaluation methods like Mercer IPE
  • Experience with HRIS Systems like SuccessFactors
  • Experience working with Senior Leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in HR analytics tools.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
