Overview

We are seeking an experienced Area Manager/Director of Structural Materials and Source Inspection to oversee and manage our Public clients and Commercial clients for source inspection projects and related teams in Northern and Southern California, with a potential for larger geographic expansion. Projects will include, but are not limited to; highways, bridges, port facilities, transit facilities, parks and recreation facilities, water/storm/sewer infrastructure, aviation facilities and gas utilities for public and private clients.

This position can be worked remotely from anywhere in the United States. However, the preference is to physically work in Los Angeles, Irvine, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, or Riverside, CA.


Responsibilities

The ideal candidate must be an experienced licensed Civil Engineer proficient in structural materials, and knowledgeable in construction materials inspection and testing (CMT), to support projects with the California Department of Transportation and other transportation authorities in Northern California, Southern California including the Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles metropolitan areas.

Duties will include, but are not limited to; business development, client interaction, sourcing technicians, project safety oversight, project Quality Assurance oversight, managing project scope, budgets, tracking invoicing, schedules, supervise and assist field staff, contract administration, assisting in business development and proposals and performing general administrative responsibilities.


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (strong credentials with AWS, ASNT, PCI, ACI will be beneficial)
  • Must have Professional Civil Engineer License
  • Must have Infrastructure/Transportation Construction Industry experience.
  • Proficient in structural materials, and knowledgeable in construction materials inspection and testing
  • 15 or more years of experience in Structural Materials - Source Fabrication Inspection
  • 10 or more years of experience in project and operational management.
  • 10 or more years working as a Materials Representative or Structural Materials Engineer
  • Demonstrated successful experience in managing multiple simultaneous projects of varying size, complexity - scope.
  • Understanding of project financial and Business area Profit and Loss (P&L)
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Quick learner, presentable, articulate and team player.
  • High Level competency with MS Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • California Professional Civil Engineer license
  • Experience in Structural Materials - Source Fabrication in Northern or Southern California
  • Strong relationships with Caltrans
  • Management experience working on Caltrans Materials Engineering - Testing Services Program.

Compensation:

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $149k - $225k. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
