Job Description

Keros Therapeutics is a public, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel treatments for patients suffering from hematological and musculoskeletal disorders with high unmet medical need. We are a leader in understanding the role of the transforming growth factor-beta, or TGF-, family of proteins, which are master regulators of red blood cell and platelet production as well as of the growth, repair and maintenance of muscle and bone. We have leveraged this understanding and developed a discovery approach to generate large and small molecules to address diseases of these tissues. Targeting TGF- signaling pathways has been clinically proven to elicit robust changes in blood cells, muscle, and bone, which we believe provides a precedent and strong rationale for our strategy.

We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative candidate for a 6-month co-op role in our Research group focusing on rare disease like Pulmonary Hypertension. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact in the discovery and development of next-generation therapies. The candidate will gain valuable industry experience and receive extensive training in vivo and ex vivo research. In addition, a successful candidate will be inquisitive about science and capable of troubleshooting by reviewing literature/colleagues and designing experiments to test hypotheses.

Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to work with rodents. This includes animal handling, dosing (IP/IV/SC/PO), bleeding, necropsy, tissue collection and wet lab sample processing.
  • Some basic molecular biology techniques: RNA isolation, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA
  • Maintain clear, accurate records of experimental details and summarize data as needed in study reports.
  • Pay attention to details and provide updates at team meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Students with major in physiology, biology, biochemistry, or related majors.
  • Interest in cardiovascular physiology preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with laboratory animals (rodents), open to learning and perfecting rodent handling and dosing techniques.
  • Interest in a future career in cardiovascular research and be open to performing in vivo and ex vivo bench work.
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team as well as independently with supervision.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, good working knowledge of MS office, and data plotting.

Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Mission Statement: Keros is an inclusive company. We believe that diversity drives innovation. We continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our employees. As such, Keros takes a holistic approach in mentoring, coaching, and developing all of our Keros team members.
