Job Description
Distillers will work primarily in distillery operations (milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation) and will migrate to other areas as needed from grain to glass. Assignments can change depending on the current business requirements and each distiller will have the capability and flexibility to run each piece of equipment at the facility including distillation, barrel handling, and bottling.
Roles & Responsibilities
Monitor/Understand automated system (HMI screens) through computers and gauges to oversee and adjust the process accordingly.
Operate grain handling, milling, mashing, yeast additions, fermentation, distillation column, doubler, byproducts, barrel handling, and bottling activities.
Operate utility systems including but not limited to boiler, chillers, cooling tower, air compressor, RO unit, etc.
Inspect and clean dust collection system
Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure equipment is clean and areas are organized at all times (5S).
Conduct steam sterilization/sanitation of lines and equipment
Perform lab procedures for beer chemistry, grain analysis, water, and proofing alcohol.
Follow and maintain all SOP's.
Follow all safety precautions and related OSHA requirements.
Understand process flows and equipment (pumps, agitators, valves, instruments, etc)
Operate cage mill and grind verification
Perform normal and emergency startup/shutdown of all equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance as required.
Complete all distillery duties as directed by Supervisor.
Operate gauging tanks, filling barrels, dumping barrels, bottling line operations
Adheres to our business standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in a team environment focusing on continuous improvement opportunities.
Overtime may be required, holiday work and weekends.
Forklift operations

Must be able to work in extremely hot, cold, loud, and dusty conditions.

Be able to physically perform all aspects of the position. This includes, but is not limited to:
Lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to shoulder height
Climb a minimum of two flights of stairs in succession
Able to bend, stoop, and reach overhead.
Education & Experience
High school or GED equivalent
Bachelor's degree preferred
Previous Distillation experience preferred
Previous Spirits industry position preferred
