• Inspects, observes and documents the surface preparation and painting of structural steel for quality assurance and to ensure contractor compliance with the painting specifications, plans and/or proposals.
• Maintains records of all work completed. Uses the necessary testing equipment to record the conditions under which the work was done and makes independent measurements of coating dry film thickness.
• Inspects, observes and documents the surface preparation and sealing of concrete surfaces for quality assurance and to ensure contractor compliance with the sealer specifications, plans and/or proposals.
• Notifies the Contractor of non-conforming work.
• Records the conditions under which the work was completed.

• Successful completion of the Department's ODOT Work Type 26 Structural Steel Painting Course (Every 4 years).
• Successful completion of the Department's ODOT Work Type 57 Sealing of Concrete Surfaces Course (Every 4 years).
• Successful completion of one (1) of the following requirements:
• National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Certified Coatings Inspector Level 1 Certified
• Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) or Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1 Certified
• Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) or Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Bridge Coating Inspector Level 1
